Winter is the perfect season to snuggle up by the fire, sip on some hot cocoa, and wait for the spring thaw. However, if you find yourself suffering from cabin fever, it’s time to bundle up and explore the exciting indoor activities that Grove City, Ohio, has to offer. Whether you’re looking for heart-pumping activities or artistic endeavors like painting pottery classes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Experience the Indoor Nature Center at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Explore nature indoors at the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park Nature Center, where visitors can see what the Big Darby Creek looks like in their 53-foot living stream that flows through the center of the building. Peer through the large windows of the center to see the bison grazing area and watch the magnificent beasts as they are a bold contrast in the winter landscape.

Surrounded by natural and cultural exhibits with hands-on activities, you can spend hours enjoying the beauty of nature within the warmth of the nature center.

Tip: If you plan ahead, you can bring some extra layers, take a walk through Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, and experience the outdoors in winter.

Escape Reality at Conundrum Rooms

Join in the fun of an escape room adventure at Conundrum Rooms, which is connected to Strawser’s Ice Cream, Pop, and Soda Shop. Bring your friends and choose your adventure. Whether it’s proving your friend’s innocence by breaking into a crooked lawyer’s office or getting out of a cabin before a Sasquatch comes back, maybe escaping Dodge City Jail, or pulling off a jewelry heist, there’s something for everyone.

You will get an hour to complete the room you choose; you will be “locked” in until your time is up; however, you are really not locked in. Escapees can use up to three clues from the game master.

Tip: Make sure you leave time to shop the retro candy shop to grab some delicious flavors, sweets, or a few sodas from their large selection.

Get Artsy at Coffee Break Pottery

Creating your own pottery art is a one-of-a-kind experience that can bring immense joy and fulfillment. Coffee Break Pottery offers a unique opportunity to unleash your creativity and design your piece of pottery. With their all-inclusive package, you can pick out and paint your creation, then let it dry in the kiln. Whether you attend one of their preselected classes or book a private session with your friends, this winter activity is sure to bust your winter blues and bring a smile to your face. And what better way to warm up on a cold day than with a cup of hot cocoa in a mug that you created yourself?

Tip: Open Wednesday-Saturday with varied hours.

Lace Up your Roller Skates

A fantastic way to stay active in winter is by spending your day or evening gliding on the roller rink at Skate America. Take the whole family and your friends, or have a solo night to boogie your way around the rink. With skate rentals, snacks, and lessons available, there’s no excuse not to give it a try. So, grab your skates and hit the rink for a memorable experience that’s both fun and healthy!

Tip: Open skates are Friday-Sunday, and a family night is on Thursdays. Plan an evening of fun rolling the night away. Check the website for up-to-date information. They are normally open when the kids don’t have school!

Hit the Target

Dueling Axes, one of the newest experiences in Grove City has found a home at the old Grove City Bowling Alley, where you can find fixtures inside that are made from the lanes. Reserve a lane and see what your aim is really like with axes and throwing knives!

You can also grab a drink from their full bar or something yummy from the kitchen. Not into throwing axes? Find dart boards, shuffleboard, corn hole, or even just people watch while you are there.

Tip: Check their schedule for live music at the Grove City location.

Dig at the Kidz Sandbox Station

Have some littles that need a place to run off some energy? Kidz Sandbox Station is now open behind the Grove City Library. (That sounds like a 2 for 1 😉) Make this your stop before or after the library!

Drop in and let the kids dig away in a huge area that contains over 60 tons of sand! Plus, there are so many toys to play with. You can also book a party there in one of their private rooms. The Kidz Sandbox Station is open Wednesday – Sunday.

Tip: This experience is recommended for children ages 1 – 8.

For now, we will wait until the temperatures are warm again. Daydreaming of running around outside at the park or strolling through the trails at Beulah Park. For more ideas, check out the Play Page to plan your Altogether (indoor) Adventure® in Grove City.
