|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:30am on Monday and Friday, repeating until September 7, 2018

The Celebration of Life art reception will be on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in historic Grove City Town Center. Visitors can experience the exhibit weekdays, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7.

Grove City Council’s Art Concern presents “A Celebration of Life,” a collection of watercolor and oil paintings by the late Yvonne Davidson Cassidy (1929-2017), on display through Friday, Sept. 7 at City Hall, 4035 Broadway, in historic Grove City Town Center. Family members will share stories about her work at a reception, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25.

Cassidy’s life-long creative passion jumps off the canvases in an inspiring blend of vibrant hues and soft detail, depicting self, family, her love of the beaches in Martha’s Vineyard and travels across the country. Also on display is her Watercolor Artist Magazine award-winning depiction of 9/11.

Described by her family as “an observer of nature at an early age,” Cassidy received her degree in art education from Indiana University. Cassidy became part of each art community she encountered, sharing her work in galleries and art shows, and continuing to utilize her educational talents by teaching drawing classes to budding artists.
