August 26 is National Dog Day, so to celebrate man’s best friend, we have compiled a list of dog-friendly places in Grove City:

1. Breck Community Dog Park

This Grove City park is the perfect place for you and your pooch to socialize or get some exercise. The park features four fenced-in areas for off-leash play. Two of the areas are designated for dogs weighing 35 pounds or more and two are designated for dogs weighing less than 35 pounds. The park does not have any breed restrictions.

2. Scioto Grove Metro Park

For adventurous pups and their humans, Scioto Grove is nature’s playground. Take a hike along the REI River Trail with marvelous views of the Scioto River or try out the Overlook Trail. You can also bring your canoe or kayak and paddle down the river. Dogs should be kept on leash throughout the park.

3. Hop Yard 62

Hop Yard 62 is a local favorite for great craft beer and entertainment. Their patio is dog-friendly and they often host a Hounds and Hops event, where they encourage patrons to bring their canine friends.

4. Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

This impressive park not only allows bison to roam around, but dogs (and cats), too! Domesticated furry friends are allowed in picnic areas, roadways, and on designated pet trails at the Metro Park. Pets should be on a leash no longer than six feet. The Wagtail Trail is a 1.6 mile designated pet trail that winds through the restored prairies.

5. Grove City Hotels

If you or someone you know is planning a stay in Grove City, but they don’t want to leave Fido behind, we’ve got you covered. Sevenย of our fourteen hotels allow pets. Just be sure to check with the individual hotel regarding pet guidelines. They may also charge a small fee. Our pet-friendly lodging facilities are: Best Western, Candlewood Suites, Days Inn, Drury Inn & Suites, La Quinta Inn, Motel 6, and Red Roof Inn.

You should also add new Scioto Grove Metro Park. The entire park is dog friendly and opens May 6

  2. Located in the Heights, Happy Fatz offers a dog friendly patio and speciality gourmet hot dogs along with home-made desserts. Try the Clucker, an over-easy egg atop a bed of hash browns on a juicy coney dog.
